Support our Water of Life Appeal
Due to isolation, women in the Pacific often have to walk for several hours a day to collect water. This prevents them from spending time in the gardens, preparing food and caring for their children.
Without improved water sources, village communities are vulnerable to water borne disease, as the water sources are often also used by animals.
Uniting Church Overseas Aid has long worked to help these women, along with their communities, to break out of the poverty cycle. Safe, clean water sources are built using community labour. This dramatically reduces the amount of time needed to collect water and also the incidence of diseases.
This year UCOA aims to provide safe water and sanitation for a further 8 village communities. This amounts to 8,000 people.
